About Gun Trust Attorney Gregory Herman-Giddens

Gregory Herman-Giddens is a gun trust attorney based in Naples, Florida and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He also practices gun law in Tennessee. Nominated on six occasions as a “North Carolina Super Lawyer in Estate Planning and Probate Law,” Herman-Giddens combines his estate planning and trust administration experience with training in gun law to create custom gun trusts. He uses a specialized legal planning system, GunDocx®, designed specifically for developing trusts for firearms. His thorough training in federal gun law and gun trusts allow him to offer superior legal guidance to gun owners who need to form a gun trust or who want to verify their existing gun trust is valid.
In addition to enjoying his work practicing estate and trust law, Herman-Giddens has a long-time love of motorcycles—including cross-country motorcycle trips—and firearms. Born in Alabama, raised in North Carolina, and a graduate of programs at UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Miami Law School, and Tulane University Law School, he has spent his entire life in the South where firearms are part of the culture. He began shooting at an early age and owns several rifles and shotguns. Firearms are a family hobby: his sons, father and brother are also gun aficionados.
He is an active writer and has been a guest on numerous radio programs and podcasts, and written many legal articles, including notable bylines in Estate Planning and Taxation for Lawyers magazines. He routinely speaks at continuing education events, educating other attorneys on the use of gun trusts in estate planning. Herman-Giddens is the founding author of the award-winning North Carolina Probate Blog, a site dedicated to issues affecting estates in the Tar Heel State. He helps clients understand how state and federal firearms laws create unique challenges in planning and settling gun owners’ estates.
